Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical (2001), 7+

2h 15min | Horror, Musical | TV Movie 10 March 2001
Musical version of the Robert Louis Stevenson story about a doctor who conducts an experiment on himself that results in his bringing out the dark, murderous side of his inner self, "Mr. Hyde".
Director: Don Roy King
Stars: David Hasselhoff, Coleen Sexton, Andrea Rivette.
Joey Pizzi ... choreographer: stage

~26 songs in the Soundtracks (tried to omit reprises), all Written by Leslie Bricusse and Frank Wildhorn.

I liked it, especially DH & the 2 female leads. Yes, DH can sing and act.

I don't know the story well, so I can't judge how faithful this is to the book or prior screen renditions. I can imagine the lots of discussion about what Stevenson intended with the dual Jekyll/Hyde: the nature of man, and the power of drugs are the 2 obvious topics.

I liked the early song where DH & fiancee sing about how well they know each other, because neither will know DH in a little while.

Rated 6.9 (507)
