Based on the fairy tale by The Brothers Grimm. Watched online, mediocre print.

6 songs in the Soundtracks, all Music by Engelbert Humperdinck (the German composer) from the opera "Hänsel und Gretel" with Lyrics by Enid Futterman and Nancy Weems (3 without NW).

Another meh production. CL as the witch was a waste; with all that makeup and costume, anyone who can cackle could have been the witch. The ending was more elaborate than just the witch getting cooked. The house oozed sugary gunk and exploded.

The real forest and the mother who was so miserable that she inflicted her misery on the children was not what I want to see.

After reading some reviews that talked about this as one of many, I got curious: the actual production company, Golan-Globus Productions has 56 productions from '81-9, including a '99, and I've heard of some of their titles. Here are the fairy tales:
Beauty and the Beast (1987)
Hansel and Gretel (1987) x
Puss in Boots (1988)
Red Riding Hood (1988)
Rumpelstiltskin (1987) x
Sleeping Beauty (1987) x
Snow White (1987)

3 down, 4 to go, if I find them online.

This was also filmed in a studio in Israel.
