With its four operas, seventeen-hour running time and months of rehearsal, Wagner's "Ring Cycle" is a daunting undertaking for any opera company. Jon Else goes backstage to show this rare event entirely from the point of view of union stagehands at the San Francisco Opera.
Director: Jon Else
Star: Kenneth 'Spike' Kirkland
Watched online, mediocre print.
Previously rated 7; not feeling so generous today, but I'll only minus it for now.
We see and hear stagehands readying the dragon, the immolation of Valhalla and more, as they describe the story of the operas in their own succinct way.
Amusing without being actually funny.
I have no idea why only 1 person is in the cast listing, nor who he was.
