8 songs in the Soundtracks, 6 Performed by James Levine and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
This gets a 7 for just one segment, otherwise this would be a 6, as was Fantasia (1940), 6. The superb segment: Rhapsody in Blue, with the animation in the style of Al Hirschfeld. Brilliant. Although it's not always visible, apparently every color in this segment has at least a little bit of blue in it. Notice the man with African features actually has purple skin. Eric Goldberg directed both this segment and the Saint-Saens (flamingo with yoyo).
Most confusing: the flying whales. Perhaps because I don't have my eyes on the screen every minute, but also because the "air" was the same color as the water, it was hard to tell when the whales were flying vs. swimming, therefore I didn't catch on that they were flying until quite deep into the piece. I really don't see why the need for such fantasy, since they didn't do anything different in the air than they did in water.
I had trouble getting the Making of doc'y to play on my BD player; it kept going to the feature. I ordered a new one already based on other problems I'd had. (It played fine on my portable.)
