Since watching the featurette for Xanadu ('80), I've been on the lookout for Kenny Ortega films. The next was One From the Heart ('81), and this was the next musical. He had 3 choreography credits in between, but those aren't music/als: St. Elmo's Fire ('85), Pretty in Pink ('86) and Ferris Bueller's Day Off ('86), so I didn't watch them.
This film has heart and good dancing. The moment when she finally has the confidence to do the lift is, of course, great. PS really moves well. Saw a choreography clip on YouTube, and Kenny doesn't look as appealing in motion as PS does, and I'm talking about the body movement.
I like the film, but it's not something I want to see over and over.
