Harry James dubbed KD's playing, and Jimmy Zito dubbed Juano Hernandez (KD's mentor). The Soundtracks lists a lot of songs, some in the score, some performed; 4 show DD singing.

The story is unhappy all the way through.

This is gritty, grimy, unpleasant. The music is well-played, but tortured. If you're already in a lousy mood, this will confirm it.

DD is sunny, but she can't share it with KD, LB or with us.

I got the definite impression that LB was going to experiment with her artist girlfriend. Not sure how audiences in 1950 would read that.

At the end, they say that KD cleans himself up, but not how.
