Notice that ST is 1st billed here, Joel McCrea 3rd. He had already made Bird of Paradise and The Most Dangerous Game (both 1932, with 2nd and 1st billing respectively) and 31 other films since 1927.

This is not a musical, hence the "{nm}" in the title of this post. ST sings a lullaby to a doll and plays a bit of piano.

The potential-divorce plot could only have been written for a child star of the caliber of ST, namely only for ST.
