It Happened in Brooklyn (1947), 7-

Danny has been in the army for 4 years, yet all he thinks about is Brooklyn and how great it is. When he returns after the war, he soon finds that Brooklyn is not so nice after all. He is ...

Could have been in the Tap! Appendix for Bobby Long, but this is his only film credit, and he's a minor (12-15?) here.

First of 7 films credited together Rat Pack-ers FS & PL. On the Wikipedia page, the RP originated at Bogart's home, and included Sinatra. The '60s version is what I'm thinking of, with Sinatra, Martin, Davis Jr., Lawford, et al. They didn't call it the RP, but the Summit or the Clan; RP was the name in the press. Apparently PL and FS split in '62. Advise and Consent ('62) lists both, but FS is only heard on a recording. In film The Oscar ('67), PL plays a character; FS & daughter Nancy are among 8 who play themselves.

Previously rated 7, it didn't make that kind of impact on me today.

The Brooklyn Bridge gets a sizable role; when FS returns from the war, his first stop is the Bridge, where he sings its praises in a song titled The Brooklyn Bridge. It is a beautiful bridge.

Most familiar song (to me): Time After Time, sung by FS. Soundtracks lists 10 songs performed, including an opera duet with FS & KG, and a solo aria by KG.

JD is charming as usual, and FS imitates him well in the song they sing together.

I wonder how long it took the vets to return home. With VJ day early Sept '45, this is released almost 1.5 years later. I'm sure we had lots of soldiers deployed to keep the peace in war-ravaged areas; don't know if those would have been new draftees, or battle-experienced. But this is a good film for anyone needing encouragement in achieving their goals.

The film is pleasant, and would get a 6+ today, so I'll leave it at a 7-.
