Pepe (1960), 6-

The young Mexican Pepe's beloved horse is sold to Hollywood star Ted Holt, leading to Pepe's journey to Hollywood to get the horse back, and Pepe's encounter with half the stars working in Hollywood at the time.

Watched online, blurry print. Fortunately this was the cut version, only 2h 38min.

12 songs in the Soundtracks, although some are partial (esp. the Bing Crosby songs).

Very impressive dance routine by SJ & 2 male dancers attached to Bobby Darin's song. Not just impressive because SJ was dancing (mostly pretty poses, clinging to male), but as a dramatic vignette. 

This film was much, much too long. I can't imagine what the 3h version is like. I just don't find all the cameos very amusing. This is just an overstuffed version of what Paramount did very well in the 40's: star-studded revue with a scant plot. But here Pepe actually interacts with most of the stars, and they're not just doing a song. 

There's a lot of charm to be viewed, but it needs an editor to cut it back.
