1h 14min | Animation, Family, Fantasy | 15 February 1950
Directors: Clyde Geronimi, Wilfred Jackson, Hamilton Luske
Stars: Ilene Woods, James MacDonald, Eleanor Audley.
Watched online, excellent print on small screen.
Sugary sweet antidote to the grimily "real" movie watch prior.
Didn't hate it, didn't love it.
Another rendition of the story that omits the girl removing ash from a hearth (the "other" being the opera viewed 10 days ago.)
I assume the mice/birds helping to make a dress and retrieving the key are Disney embellishments to the story.
From IMDb Trivia: "Apparently in the original French story, the slippers are made of fur, which in addition to being comfortable and practical, has a Freudian connotation in the context. The absurd concept of glass slippers is due to a long-ago typo, as the old fashioned French words for fur and glass are near-homonyms."
