Watched online; archive footage was poor. Time was only 52 minutes, and I don't think WC Fields was in this version.
1st onscreen film credit for SA. He plays a disc jockey moving to TV, how hosting a film instead of records. But the film is mostly silent, so he plays instruments, makes sound effects and jokes through the film, also delivering commercials for the single sponsor, a shampoo for bald scalps.
The film being broadcast is just a compilation, not well edited together, of Mack Sennett silent films and sound shorts. We get more than 1 Bing Crosby short, and 1 was already in the compilation Road to Hollywood ('47).
So this is mildly amusing at best. And was tagged Music because Bing sings. I suspect a show of hosted old movies/shorts existed. They certainly did when I was a kid; e.g. Fractured Flickers (1963), although that was more mock-narrated than hosted.
