Bootleg, decent copy except it's cut down for FS broadcast.

Watched now because I'm experimenting with burning dvr recordings to dvd.

I don't remember when I first would have seen this; long ago. John O'Hara is the source novelist, and he wrote a lot about extra-marital affairs. Here SP starts early (16?) with her promiscuity, and is of course condemned. '65 is about when the Pill became readily available, so female sexuality was strongly discouraged in the time of this film.

Then, after SP marries, she strays with 1 man. It's an affair, but for her it's just sex. For him, it's love. I won't say more about the plot.

I find it fascinating for how frank the film is about her desires and lack of discipline, and how her local society views it. On the other hand, she has some interesting conversations with her husband (one before marriage), who is pretty even-handed about what she should have (not) done and why. But it's not a great film, and the cast is not A-level.
