Hail, hail, Freedonia! Dumont is back. The mania is wonderfully chaotic. My favorite of the Paramount films.
More of a musical than the rest. The Country's Going to War is a huge production number (very near the end of the film.) HOWEVER, no harp solo for Harpo, and no piano solo for Chico. Those are missed, but the pace of this film is great, and feels complete at only 68 minutes. (Also missing: a lengthy negotiation between Groucho and Chico.)
Harpo and Chico have 2 encounters with a lemonade vendor. Another recurring gag: Harpo, Groucho and a motorcycle with sidecar.
At one point Harpo and Chico dress like Groucho (long night shirt and cap) and greasepaint mustache. Harpo gets caught by Groucho where a mirror used to be, and they do a silent mimic of each other, as Lucy recreated with Harpo on her show.
