Watched online, poor print.
The print was poor, but good enough that I recognized a very young (b. '46) Patty Duke in a very small role.
Since this is set in country music, it had little chance of earning higher than a 5 from me.
If June Carter sang, I missed it. I think she played the girlfriend.
ZG invests in the upcomer, and sends him to Carnegie Hall to listen to Tchaikovsky, which he reports back that he hates.
Lew Parker, future dad of That Girl ('66-'71), plays "himself" as an Ed Sullivan-style TV host. I don't see anything in his IMDb credits to indicate he hosted a show like that.
Lots of songs, and plenty of story with JW as the shoestring record company owner. ZG cuddles up to him at The End.
