A ruthless philanthropist. A bhangra rapper. An over-protected prodigy. A reckless actress. A lovelorn businessman. An entrepreneurial yogi. And a Loin King. All converge at a singing contest in a small New Jersey town for a $25,000 prize.
Co-Writer/Director: Manish Acharya
Stars: Shabana Azmi, Ajay Naidu, Ayesha Dharker.
Watched online, ok print.
No songs listed in the Soundtracks, but all were sung in Hindi, mostly partials for auditions, one was the national anthem of India.
The title refers to the businessman who's sponsoring the contest, and the loins are from pork. The food business does not enter into the story beyond that.
We follow these 7(?) contestants through the process, but dozens more try out. One of them manipulates the contest so she's one of the 2 finalists. The film ends with the winner selected, and we get title cards with post-contest outcomes.
Shrug-worthy.

This is in English and set in NJ, but IMDb shows the funding country as India, but does not list a distributor in India. I guess I added this to the quest after the Bollywood film I liked.
