Here we go! Competition to BB backstagers! Better in the sense that the musical numbers are scattered throughout, but the choreography is not so intensely creative. JM really kicks up her heels here, with both her left and right legs.

Particularly good production starts at 39 minutes, tracing changes in musical styles from modern (1934) times to the Edwardian era. Don't miss the minstrel faces on the wall during the Charleston. I'm not sure why the 1914 segment is so Metropolis-y (1927), but it also borrows from Footlight Parade (1933); BB should be proud. There are 2-3 other good production numbers. Just watch it all; the ending satisfies too.

Co-star Sonnie Hale was JM's husband 1931-44.
